    Description

    From my anti-slavery collection I offer this late 1700s farthing size copper token made in England during the movement to outlaw slavery. Grade is glossy brown EF or better. Obverse has a likeness of Adam & Eve with legend around MAN OVER MAN HE MADE NOT LORD. The reverse has a man riding a bull with an ass' head. Legend reads "am i not thine ass" Man resembles royalty. Issued by Thomas Spence who was an outspoken foe of slavery and was even jailed for his views on several occasions.
